Ten statements about how your organization runs. A few minutes, answered honestly, with nobody watching. Answer for the organization you actually run, not the one on the values wall. Score what happens on an ordinary Tuesday, not what is supposed to happen. Do not debate long. Your first honest response is usually the useful one.

There is one thing the book cannot do for you. It cannot give you specific context. That comes from you. Take this before Chapter 1. This is the only unguarded reading you will ever get. Once the book changes what you notice, you cannot answer these statements cold again.

Take the reading again as you build. That is what gauges are for. If you skipped it before Chapter 1, take it now. Colleagues should take it on their own, then compare.
